For the director. Of David. To remind.1God, deliver me. LORD, hasten to my help.2Let those seeking my life be ashamed and confounded; let those desiring my harm turn back and be humiliated.3Let them be ashamed and confounded, those seeking my vital life force. Let them turn back and be humiliated, those delighting in my evil.4Let all who seek you return and rejoice in you, and let them say continually, "God is magnified, lovers of your salvation. Brother! Brother!"5But I am poor and needy. God, hasten to me. You are my helper and my deliverer; LORD, do not delay.

Chapter 71
1In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.2In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me.3Be a rock of dwelling for me to come to continually. You have commanded to save me, for you are my rock and my stronghold.4God, deliver me from the hand of the wicked, from the palm of the worker of iniquity and the oppressor.5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my trust from my youth.6On you I have relied from the womb, from my mother's innards. You are my shearer. In you is my praise continually.7I was like a sign to many; you are my refuge, my strength.8My mouth will be filled with your praise all day long, your תפארת.9Do not cast me away in the time of old age; when my strength fails, do not leave me.10For my enemies have said to me, and those watching my nephesh have counseled together.11saying, "God has abandoned him; pursue and seize him, for there is no deliverer."12God, do not be far from me; my God, hasten to my help.13Let my adversaries be ashamed and confounded, the enemies of my soul; let them clothe themselves with reproach and disgrace, those who seek my evil.14But I will hope continually, and I will add to all your praise.15My mouth will recount your righteousness all day long—your salvation—for I do not know its full measure.16I will come in the sound of war/strength of my lord the LORD; I will make mention of your righteousness/justice alone.17God, you have taught me from my youth, and until now I declare your wonders.18Even until old age and gray hair, God, do not leave me until I tell of your mighty arm to a generation, to all who come your divine power.19And your righteousness, God, reaches to the heights, you who have done great things, God—who is like you?20You who showed me many distresses and evils, you will return; you will make me live. And abysses of the land you will return; you will bring me up.21You will increase my greatness, and you will surround me and comfort me.22I will thank you with the lyre for your faithfulness, my God. I will sing praises to you with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.23My lips will exult when I sing praises to you, and my nephesh, which you have redeemed.24My tongue will mutter of your righteousness all day long, for they are ashamed, for they are confounded, the seekers of my evil.
